Lorna McNee

Chef Lorna McNee, protégé of the late two Michelin-starred chef Andrew Fairlie and Great British Menu’s “Champion of Champions” 2019, took up her first head chef role at Cail Bruich in August 2020.

She is the only current female chef in Scotland holding a Michelin star, achieving this in just over five months. Born and raised in the coastal town of Forres, Scotland, after a two week work experience at Gordon Ramsay at Claridges, it was here that cemented Lorna’s love of cooking. Followed by work placement at Restaurant Andrew Fairlie, the course of her life changed forever when he offered her a permanent position and she progressed through this legendry kitchen to become Sous Chef of the two Michelin property. Here, Lorna picked up a number of awards – Game Chef of The Year 2016, National Scottish Chef of The Year 2017 and winning the Great British Menu 2019 series. In 2020 Mcnee forged her own path revitalising the kitchen at Cail Bruich and was awarded a Michelin Star in 2021.

Lorna creates elegant plates of food that make the most of Scotland’s seasonally changing ingredients, prepared with respect and a lightness of touch. Lorna and the team work closely with producers and suppliers to offer guests the highest quality of food and drink.

Obsession Food Festival

Obsession first took place in 2001 and was created as a celebration of great food, wine and a meeting of friends, old and new.

From that first event, its size has grown but the ethos is still very much the same; a completely memorable culinary experience with some of the world’s most innovative chefs creating unique Obsession menus for guests to enjoy at Northcote.
